How does it work?

As brace is a device which helps in adjusting the teeth and the jaw portion, which we got to know earlier, at the same time it does goes through a long process. A brace after applying them actually moves the teeth and as a result it maintains a force and pressure on the teeth.

There are four basic elements which are used; brackets, bonding material, arch wire and ligature elastic. The arch wire helps moving the teeth which build ups a pressure on the brackets and teeth as well. For giving the teeth a proper direction rubber bands and springs are used.

For letting the teeth move in a desired position braces inhibits constant pressure. The process includes loosen of tooth after which new bones grows in to support the tooth in its new position. This whole process is called bone remodeling. Bone remodeling is a biomechanical process responsible for making bones stronger and sustainable.

Osteoclasts and osteoblasts are the cells out of which bones are made. Resorption happens and two kind of resorptions are possible one is direct resorption and the other is indirect resorption.

Direct resorption starts from the lining cells of the alveolar bone and indirect resorption starts when the periodontal ligament has been subjected to an excessive amount and duration of compressive stress.

Tooth disposition is one of the common cases. It happens in the distracted periodontal ligament. If disposition doesn’t place than tooth will lose and voids will appear distal to the direction of tooth movement.
